VIII.7.28 Pompeii. Statue of Bacchus (Dionysus) with his panther.  The inscription engraved on the base informs us that the figure was a votive gift from Numerio Popidio Ampliato, father of Popidio Celsino, that restored the Temple with his money.  Claudian. From the niche in the back wall of the temple Cella.   Dionysus was identified with the Egyptian god Osiris. Now in Naples Archaeological Museum.
