VIII.7.22 and VIII.7.23 would have been underneath the peristyle and dwelling of VIII.7.24.

It is very difficult to identify from the plan of the area and the photos exactly which area belongs to which.

The majority of the photos of VIII.7.22-24, including the underground areas, are included in VIII.7.24.

This house is a little confusing as it is split into two levels.

The entrance level consisted of atrium and surrounding rooms, probably used as the sculptor’s workshop.

Fifteen steps led up to the upper part being the dwelling area, including the garden area surrounded by portico on four sides, a triclinium, cubiculi, another kitchen, and perhaps an exedra.

Below the upper part would have been the areas of VIII.7.22 and 23.

According to Fiorelli, the house was of very ancient construction but transformed into a workshop.

This entire area is now very ruined.
